Course Description

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming education, providing educators with new opportunities to increase efficiency, personalize instruction, and support student learning. From lesson planning and assessment development to differentiation and feedback, AI tools can serve as valuable instructional partners when used thoughtfully and ethically. As AI continues to evolve, educators must understand both its capabilities and its limitations while ensuring that technology enhances—not replaces—professional judgment, meaningful learning experiences, and strong teacher-student relationships.

This 5-hour professional development course provides educators with practical, evidence-based strategies for integrating Artificial Intelligence into classroom instruction and professional practice. Participants will explore AI tools that support teaching, examine ethical considerations related to privacy and academic integrity, develop AI-assisted lesson plans, use AI to differentiate instruction, and create classroom expectations that promote responsible student use of AI. Through reflection, practical applications, and resource development, educators will leave with classroom-ready strategies that improve efficiency, strengthen instruction, and prepare students for an AI-driven future.

Throughout the course, participants will examine:

  • Understanding the capabilities and limitations of Artificial Intelligence in education

  • Identifying AI tools that support lesson planning, instruction, and assessment

  • Ethical considerations related to privacy, bias, transparency, and academic integrity

  • Using AI to improve instructional planning and classroom efficiency

  • Designing AI-assisted lessons that align with curriculum and learning standards

  • Using AI to differentiate instruction for diverse learners

  • Creating meaningful supports for multilingual learners, struggling students, and advanced learners through AI

  • Developing responsible classroom expectations for student AI use

  • Teaching AI literacy and digital citizenship skills

  • Evaluating AI-generated content for accuracy, quality, and instructional value

  • Maintaining professional judgment while integrating AI into teaching practice

  • Creating practical AI resources that enhance learning while supporting ethical and responsible technology use

Participants will reflect on their current instructional practices while developing AI-supported lesson plans, differentiation resources, ethical classroom guidelines, and student AI use plans that can be immediately implemented in their educational settings.

Assignments are designed to be practical, immediately applicable, and directly connected to the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence in today's classrooms. Special attention is given to helping educators integrate Artificial Intelligence responsibly while protecting student privacy, maintaining academic integrity, and promoting authentic learning.

Participants will develop practical strategies that enhance instructional effectiveness, improve student engagement, support equitable access to learning, and prepare students to become thoughtful, ethical, and responsible users of AI technologies.
