Course Description
Technology has become an essential component of effective teaching and learning, providing educators with powerful opportunities to engage students, personalize instruction, remove barriers to learning, and monitor academic progress. When technology is intentionally aligned with instructional goals, it can transform students from passive recipients of information into active participants in meaningful learning experiences. Successful technology integration depends on thoughtful instructional planning, purposeful implementation, and selecting digital tools that enhance—not replace—effective teaching practices.
This 5-hour professional development course provides educators with practical, evidence-based strategies for selecting and implementing technology tools that increase student engagement and improve learning outcomes. Participants will explore interactive learning platforms, effective virtual instruction, accessibility supports grounded in Universal Design for Learning (UDL), digital assessment tools, and best practices for meaningful technology integration across diverse educational settings. Through reflection, practical applications, and resource development, educators will leave with classroom-ready strategies that increase participation, support diverse learners, and strengthen instructional effectiveness.
Throughout the course, participants will examine:
Selecting interactive technology tools that increase student engagement
Using digital platforms to promote active learning, collaboration, and meaningful participation
Designing engaging virtual and hybrid learning experiences
Applying Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles through educational technology
Using accessibility features to remove barriers for diverse learners
Implementing digital assessment tools that provide immediate feedback and inform instruction
Using assessment data to guide instructional decision-making
Integrating technology to support differentiated instruction and equitable access to learning
Selecting technology tools that align with instructional goals and learning standards
Promoting student engagement through purposeful and effective technology integration
Developing classroom-ready technology resources for immediate implementation
Creating engaging, inclusive, and student-centered learning environments through meaningful technology use
Participants will reflect on their current instructional practices while developing interactive learning activities, virtual lesson plans, accessibility audits, digital assessments, and technology integration action plans that can be immediately implemented in their classrooms.
Assignments are designed to be practical, classroom-focused, and directly connected to the daily work of educators integrating technology to improve teaching, learning, and student engagement.
Special attention is given to helping educators integrate technology in ways that strengthen instructional effectiveness, increase student engagement, improve accessibility, and support diverse learners.
Participants will develop practical strategies that promote active learning, enhance assessment practices, encourage meaningful collaboration, and create technology-rich learning environments that prepare students for success in an increasingly digital world.
